Studying MSc Finance at Warwick Business School was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I chose WBS because of the structure of the programme, it offered a solid foundation in essential financial theories while staying practical and relevant to the real world. But what I gained from my time there went far beyond just academics.
What’s it like being a Master’s student at WBS?
The WBS campus became a home for me. I spent four seasons there, and with each one, the place revealed a new kind of beauty. I remember being greeted by a family of geese on quiet early mornings, walking past Tocil Lake as it shimmered in the winter mist, and watching the trees shift from green to amber to snow-covered white.
The campus felt peaceful, grounding a quiet kind of serenity that made even the busiest days more manageable.
What really stood out during my time at WBS was the postgraduate team. They were so genuinely invested in making our experience memorable, not just academically, but personally too. I’ll never forget the Christmas lunch they organised for us right after our Investment Management exam.
It was a moment of warmth and celebration after a tough day. Then there was the Portugal trip, both educational and unforgettable and the Finance Master’s Ball in the spring, which was such a joyful way to celebrate our time together. It meant a lot to feel seen and supported by a team that clearly cared.
What’s next after Warwick?
Since graduating, I’ve joined IG Group as a Credit Operations Executive. My role involves managing client margin calls, preparing reports on debt and credit risk, and assessing client eligibility for credit facilities. It’s fast-paced and constantly evolving, the kind of environment where you need to think on your feet, stay curious, and remain calm under pressure.
My time at WBS helped me grow into someone who could thrive in that kind of setting. It taught me to be resilient, to work with diligence, and to stay curious , not just about finance, but about people and how the world works. The lessons I learned in class directly support my role, especially the understanding of financial markets and market behaviour.
The resources the careers team shared from application tips to interview strategies were invaluable during job prep.
What should I know before arriving at university?
To anyone considering an MSc at WBS: it’s more than a course. It’s a journey that challenges and shapes you. Be open to every part of it; the learning, the people, the small everyday moments.
You’ll come out not only more capable, but more confident in who you are and where you’re going.
